The Young Punx, personal pet-project of producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer Hal Ritson, have shared the video for ‘Wonderland’, created by Dutch conceptual artist Han Hoogerbrugge. Hoogerbrugge has been developing the visual identity for The Young Punx since 2006, constructing alternate realities and utilising a darkly comic cast of surreal characters.
The video for their radical deconstruction of the 80s classic ‘Club Tropicana’ presents a variety of surreal dancing chimaeras showered by bouncing flowers and fruit. This all takes place in a black and white checkered environment that serves as an effective backdrop to the eye-popping colour and bizarre spectacles fit for the “Wonderland” of Lewis Carroll.
The pulsing talkbox-driven anthem and its video are a true testament to the aim of the musical outfit, which is to challenge its audience to reconsider the boundaries and labels of music- and pop-culture. It is a thoroughly enjoyable pairing.
In 2019 The Young Punx are releasing one track per month, each accompanied by Han‘s visuals.
