5 minutes with Future Pop Electro duo Spce Cadex

0

We recently had the pleasure of talking to Electro and Bass duo Spce Cadex. A New York based Electro-Bass duo who are extremely passionate about production and expressing their creativity through their Electronic-inspired sound. The duo love experimenting with different sounds and often use their guitars to add that ‘natural feeling’ to their music whilst sticking to their winning formula creating beats and tunes using their digital equipment.

With a few upcoming releases Spce Cadex gave us some insight into who inspires them and what’s currently on their playlist. Describing their sound as Future Pop and Bass, Steven and Lefty share with us who their favourite artists are at the moment as well as what to expect later this year.

Hi there, how are you and what are you up to today?
Hey, we are doing good and just producing music before doing this interview haha.

To those not familiar with you, how would you describe your sound?
Our sound is consisted of the melodic dubstep side of EDM. We add some catchy top lines to make the track unique and catchy in the end.

What are the 5 albums and artists that have influenced you the most?
Oh man this is such a hard question as we are influenced by a lot of artist. Definitely our top choices would be Illenium, Said The Sky, Breathe Carolina, Grey, and Gryffin. We’re always listening to their music, literally on repeat all day to gain some inspiration.

Steven: Chameleon by Grey and Illenium Album
Lefty: Lots of J Cole haha but Riggi & Piros, NGHTMRE, Slander, and many more.

What other artists do you really like at the moment and why?
We really love Unknown Brain and Grey at the moment. Their sound is so unique and clean. We are huge fans of Grey, their recent album really drives our inspiration off the roof. From the start you can immediately tell that this album is unique and different from other sounds in EDM you hear everyday.

What are some of the key pieces of gear you use to write your tracks in the studio? Or do you prefer to use software and plug ins?
We prefer to use Logic and our favourite plug in at the moment is Spire and Kontakt. Ohhhh also forgot we love to record on our electric and bass guitar. Most of our guitar sounds come from that, it adds a more natural feeling to the tracks that we make.

Has your arsenal of equipment changed much since you first started?
Not really, we are firm believers of less is more so we just have a midi M-Audio Keyboard and our two guitars in the studio. We also have a launch pad but we barely use it haha so its collecting dust at the moment. We do plan to use it live once we start performing though.

Do you enjoy playing to an audience or working in the studio?
Believe it or not we have yet to play for an audience. We think that it will be a 50% split between both. We love to mix and also love to work on some new Spce CadeX music in the studio.

If we gave you the budget to put a line-up together for a mini fest, who would you book and where would you play?
Ohhh man we would add Grey, Unknown Brain, Midsplit, and other artist that inspire us to this day. For a location, maybe somewhere in Toronto or New York City (Which is our home).

If you weren’t a musician what would you be?
Steven: Probably working in a office doing business consulting
Lefty: Same as Steven

Do you have any information regarding upcoming releases, projects, DJ mixes or collaborations in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?
Yes, we have a couple of releases for the next 3 months. We have one coming out on April the 20th and another one in May the 3rd, it is still in the works as we have to make minor edits to the final version of the track.

Steven: We want to work on a official EP or maybe Album this summer. I feel like we are kind of at that stage to finally start working on bigger projects for our fans. Definitely going to be a lot of Spce Cadex vibes and we also want to experiment with this new sound that we’ve been working on in the studio. Should be fun!

Future Bass artist DRUGZZ shares debut single

0

Future-bass artist DRUGZZ has just released his debut single ‘Someone Other Than Me’ via Super Serious.

Mastered by Joe LaPorta of Sterling Sound Studio, the Nashville-based artist has produced a sterling debut, and has been likened to the sounds of a crossover between Louis The Child and Simple Plan.

Someone Other Than Me’ is a dizzying voyage through a brightly-lit abyss: driving bass lines, pounding percussive beats and confrontational vocal delivery spiked with a wry sense of humour. Blending elements of electronica, future-bass, EDM, pop-punk and indie, DRUGZZ has created a mind-melting signature style completely of his own.

32Stitches releases ‘Remember This’

0

‘Remember This’ is the latest single produced by Mumbai-based electronic producer 32Stitches set for release on 9th February. Already holding successful singles to his name such as ‘Keeper Of The Realm’, ‘Last Time’ and ‘Vohwala’, India’s 32Stiches, along with fellow artists Adam Sky, Davoodi and No Class, has also produced remix work for Tom & Hills’ 2017 remix package ‘Lies ft. Cosmos’ released via Universal Music. Making his mark upon tastemaker publications DJ Mag, EDM.com and YourEDM, 32Stitches has also gained a considerable following after performing at Run The Trap’s showcase alongside Fabian Mazur, LUUDE, Holly and Jamal, an official ADE After-Party performance in 2017 and opening for San Holo & DROELOE during their debut India shows.

Originally born in Chandigarh, India, after forfeiting the life of a successful logistics businessman, this then prompted 32Stitches to delve deeper into the endless possibilities of the electronic music production realm. With two qualifications in Audio Engineering already under his belt, including a degree at ILM Academy in 2011, followed by a 2013 overseas adventure at the Point Blank Music School in London, it’s no wonder that 32Stitches has proven his skills to be more than flawless.

Influenced by a wide variety of similarly like-minded artists such as K?d, Illenium, Kaskade and ARMNHMR to name a few, the young, ambitious producer shows no sign of restriction when it comes to producing and creating, 32Stitches has evidently risen to the top from the depths of such realms and emerged accomplished. Whether he’s dabbling in future-bass, dance music, progressive or electro, 32Stitches is definitely not one to confine to one single set of rules within a plethora of untapped exploration.

32Stitches’ latest single ‘Remember This’ is a deep, colourful composition riddled with crisp production techniques akin to greats like Mura Masa or Flume; concise percussion, complex programming, deep, edgy basslines and oscillated synthesizers sway and switch trailing into an energetic and earnest break down leaving us with much anticipation for the next.

Commenting on the latest single, 32Stitches states: “The track was made on a rainy day with a coffee in one hand and heartbreak in the pocket. The melody is inspired by the journey of a dead end relationship that usually goes nowhere but leaves many good memories. It was a pleasure working on this since it helped me express the emotional phase that I was going through when I made the track.”
