KLYMVX share latest single “Siento ft. Marissa Chibli”

0

Parisian electro-pop duo KLYMVX share latest single “Siento ft Marissa Chibli” on June 1st via Sony Music/ SMART. Since already establishing themselves as accomplished artists, they have amassed over 15 million streams globally with their single “After Midnight” featuring Emily Zeck.

Based in Paris, and formed in late 2014, KLYMVX are a French electronic-music DJ and producer duo consisting of musicians and producers Axel and Hovig. KLYMVX has also appeared at many festivals including Spain’s Pacha Salou and Paris’ celebrated Fête de la Musique event, KLYMVX performed alongside Klosman, Yall and Uppermost at Palais de Tokyo (YOYO) supporting Lost Frequencies, as well as various other concerts in Paris with Henri PFR via LiveNation.

Siento” by KLYMVX is an instant seasonal classic; kicking off with soulfully strummed acoustic guitar lines sitting comfortably underneath vocalist Marissa Chibli’s beautiful vocal tones.

Speaking on the latest single, KLYMVX comment:

“To give you a little anecdote, in the drop you can hear what sounds like a flute but actually isn’t. We were on a terrace with our beers (we were just messing around) and after having drunk two or three of them, one of us blew into his bottle and frankly, that’s how we found the drop! We found Marissa on the internet, thanks to her multiple covers, and immediately knew we’d found the singer we needed. We’re from Paris, we live in the grey. We’ve always said that we make music to make people smile and convey a positive message, and this time we tried to bring the nice weather with us too – and that’s what made “Siento”.”

AVICII’S ‘Heaven’ With Chris Martin

0

With tragic passing of Avicii last month, the internet rapidly went rife with speculation about a possibility of there being new Avicii music for all to hear. The late EDM icon had just released a new EP in August which was alleged to be a greater body of work. Despite all that, Avicii’s reps denied that there will be no Avicii album to be released this year.

That said, ‘new’ Avicii material has since surfaced – and it’s a collaboration with old friend Chris Martin of Coldplay no less called “Heaven.” Those who have seen Avicii’s documentary Avicii: True Stories, might recall a scene with Chris Martin and Avicii in the studio, which we are to assume gave way to this record. The record had officially surfaced last month when it had been played by Nicky Romero as a tribute to Avicii at Koningsdag, but many alternate versions with different vocals have been spotted across the internet since last year.

With so many Avicii fans still in mourning, this will no doubt elicit some cathartic release.

In Conversation With Spce CadeX

‘Out Of The Milky Way’, Spce CadeX are two Future Pop Bass guys from NYC. Steven and Lefty personally believe that music is the strongest form of self expression. Music can show emotions and feelings without even saying a word. That’s why they are so passionate about making music and never gave up through all the negativity that they have received for being producers.

“Let our music speak. You hear our sound now all we ask is, don’t copy it. Be inspired by it and make something creative with the inspiration. Be your own essence.”

We caught up with the producer DUO for some personal insights about what influenced them the most, what equipment and pug-ins they use and what they are up to in the near future. Enjoy the read:

Let’s give ‘Fools Gold’ feat. LUX a listen

Hi there, how are you and what are you up to today?
Hey, we are doing good and just producing music before doing this interview haha.
To those not familiar with you, how would you describe your sound? *
Our sound is consisted of the melodic dubstep side of EDM. We add some catchy top lines to make the track unique and catchy in the end.

What are the 5 albums and artists that have influenced you the most?
Oh man this is such a hard question as we are influenced by a lot of artist. Definitely our top choices would be Illenium, Said The Sky, Breathe Carolina, Grey, and Gryffin. We’re always listening to their music, literally on repeat all day to gain some inspiration.

Steven: Chameleon by Grey and Illenium Album
Lefty: Lots of J Cole haha but Riggi & Piros, NGHTMRE, Slander, and many more.

What other artists do you really like at the moment and why?
We really love Unknown Brain and Grey at the moment. Their sound is so unique and clean. We are huge fans of Grey, their recent album really drives our inspiration off the roof. From the start you can immediately tell that this album is unique and different from other sounds in EDM you hear everyday.

What are some of the key pieces of gear you use to write your tracks in the studio? Or do you prefer to use software and plug ins?
We prefer to use Logic and our favorite plug in at the moment is Spire and Kontakt. Ohhhh also forgot we love to record on our electric and bass guitar. Most of our guitar sounds come from that, it adds a more natural feeling to the tracks that we make.

Has your arsenal of equipment changed much since you first started?
Not really, we are firm believers of less is more so we just have a midi M-Audio Keyboard and our two guitars in the studio. We also have a launch pad but we barely use it haha so its collecting dust at the moment. We do plan to use it live once we start performing though.

Do you enjoy playing to an audience or working in the studio?
Believe it or not we have yet to play for an audience. We think that it will be a 50% split between both. We love to mix and also love to work on some new Spce CadeX music in the studio.

If we gave you the budget to put a line-up together for a mini fest, who would you book and where would you play?
Ohhh man we would add Grey, Unknown Brain, Midsplit, and other artist that inspire us to this day. For a location, maybe somewhere in Toronto or New York City (Which is our home).

If you weren’t a musician what would you be?
Steven: Probably working in a office doing business consulting
Lefty: Same as Steven

Listen to ‘Flying’ feat. M.I.M.E

Do you have any information regarding upcoming releases, projects, DJ mixes or collaborations in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?
Yes we have a couple of releases for the next 3 months. We have one coming out on 4/20 and another one in May. The 3rd is still in the works as we have to make minor edits to the final version of the track.

Steven : We want to work on a official EP or maybe Album this summer. I feel like we are kind of at that stage to finally start working on bigger projects for our fans. Definitely going to be a lot of Spce vibes and we also want to experiment with this new sound that we’ve been working on in the studio. Should be fun!

Ethereal EDM artist SEAPORA tells us how she thinks music impacts human life and more

0

We recently had the pleasure of interviewing ethereal EDM artist SEAPORA who has recently released her EP titled “Seaflow” through Chillage Records. Her music is known to capture moods and connect with listeners worldwide. SEAPORA has successfully managed to fuse Electronic music and natural sounds to create unique and magical soundscapes that highlight the singers vast knowledge of music and artistic expression.

The Californian artist gives us a glimpse into what makes her sound so unique as well as her career highlights.

What do you think makes your music unique?

I think what makes my music unique is the combination of innovative lyrics and original instrumentation created through the collaboration of different producers artistic ideas. When producers come together and fuse their artistic expression in a completely unique way magic happens.

Has there been any particular moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

I think the process of making the music rather than a particular moment in time is my favorite part. The actual journey of making an album, the musical creation, recording the lyrics in a studio, mixing, mastering, working with artists to design the album and then releasing the final product to the world is what I enjoy the most.

What has been your most enjoyable song to write or produce? And why?

“Eternal” for my Royale project, was one of my favorite tracks to write and collaborate on in terms of production. I really liked how the other producer had ideas about what the song meant, and helped collaborate in the lyric writing process. I also enjoyed adding instrumental melodies after the lyric addition that complemented the message behind the track.

Do you think song-writing is a talent you were born with, or has it been something you’ve had to perfect over time?

I used to write a lot of poetry as a child, but I think as my vocabulary broadened and I experienced more of life the meaning behind the writing got deeper and juicier. I think studying music theory and song writing also helped me grasp the structure of lyric writing.

Do you ever experience writer’s block when writing lyrics? I imagine this to be particularly annoying if you were in any kind collaborative situation. If so, how do you overcome this?

Absolutely, I think this is inevitable for all artists. I find it is best not to force creativity and let it come through you in its own time. If I am collaborating with another artist and I am not able to come up with a lyrical idea, I will empower the producer to create and usually their artistic expression will inspire me and we will be able to get out of the writer’s block together.

What song instantly puts you in a good mood?

Eric Prydz – Call on me. Hands down this song exudes positive energy and will instantly get me in a good mood

What song instantly makes you want to cry?

U2 – With or Without you The lyrics in the track are so powerful and reminds me of young love. Also Adele – Hello and Aerosmith – I don’t want to miss a thing Thing are serious tear jerkers.

What is the best career advice you have received so far, musically speaking?

Don’t give up and take every opportunity to perform that comes your way whether small or large.

Besides making music – please name any other talents or skill-sets that you’re exceptional at?

I am a lifelong learner and I have worked hard at refining my belly dance performance and floral design skills.

As a performing artist, are there any mantras or rituals which you live by, before or after a live performance?

Yes, I believe in self-care and drinking lots of herbal tea and before singing on stage!  It helps my voice out tremendously. I also think it’s imperative to take in the energy from the crowd and match the flow of the audience in my performance.

What would you like your fans to take away from your music?

What I would want a fan to take away from my music is incredibly varied depending on the song they might be listening to.  I try to write about the full breadth of our human experience, and I would hope that I can engage with my fans across that full scope.

How do you think music impacts human life?

Music allows us to tap into the depths of human emotion and helps us through pivotal moments in our lives.  There’s enough evidence to suggest that perhaps before language, we had music. As a people, music was our first language. It activates something primal in us – something important.  It’s hard to say why music matters so much in our lives, but as human beings, all of us know it when we hear it.

Out of your discography, which happens to be your personal favorite, and why?

That is a tough one because it definitely changes, but at this time I would say “Eternal.”  I really enjoyed collaborating with Urple Eeple on this future garage track!

SEAPORA set to release her EP “Seaflow”

0

Electronic musician SEAPORA releases her EP “Seaflow” on 27th April via Chillage Records. Her previous single, ‘Traveling’ was premiered by Earmilk whilst its remix by Spoken Bird has seen support from The Untz, The Accidental Poet and QRD Music and her most recent single, “Per Angel” premiered via CLASH Mag. The album was produced by Peter Farr (Urple Eeple), Ian Anderson (Somatik) and Jeff Harris (Thattix). SEAPORA has received support from YourEDM, having reached #1 on EDM Africa chart, and she has worked alongside Jay Wiltzen & Alex Blue (BLU J), Alex Gonzalez (Spoken Bird) and Will Bauer (Elevated Mind) for previous album “Seapop.” SEAPORA gained support from the likes of Magnetic Magazine, Insomniac, Amazing Radio and Keep It Underground and played at Lucidity Festival and Treefort Music Festival.

SEAPORA’s production style can be compared to Burial, as her vocals are reminiscent of Beth Gibbons (Portishead), Björk or Lamb. SEAPORA’s sound has become “synonymous with ethereal soundscapes and soulful vocal leads. Moved by the power of the auditory sense, SEAPORA uses her music to experience and capture mood, and through musical composition she connects with the world.” Citing influences as Björk, Robotaki, Tycho, Enya, Deep Forest, and Goldfrapp, she made her first piano composition at the age of 12.

Following her previous release “Seapop” the new album “Seaflow” is the second album in a trilogy, and the first single to be taken from the album, ‘Traveling’ consists of “dreamy vocals between flowing, ambient soundscapes, the track is an aural distillation of emotion, music that offers everything, but demands nothing.”

Speaking of “Seaflow,” SEAPORA says: “The lyrical content in “Seaflow” takes the listener on a journey through the self and deals with existential themes surrounding life and death. In “Seaflow” we get a glimpse of what it means to be truly alive and experience our own truth. The multifaceted nature of life inspired this album, as well as the awe-inspiring beauty of our planet.”

Popular Russian duo Sex of Insects have released an enchanting remix package which includes remixes by Sailor & I, dOP and Anatoly Ylotana on 13th of April via Ylotana Music. The remixes are for the song titled ‘Om Nah Omn’. The duo formed in 2016, and combines the talents of Anatoly Ylotana (guitar) and Alexandra Bartashevich (vocals). Inspired and influenced by big acts such as Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and more recently Underworld, Daft Punk and Danny Tenaglia  – the duo after the success of their previous releases ‘I’m Full Remixes’, ‘I Can Hear The Light Remixes’, ‘I Can Hear The Acid Remixes’ and ‘All I Have A Know Remixes’ and ‘Not This Song Again Remixes’, Sex of Insects has gained recognition and applause from publications CLASH Magazine, Data Transmission, Konbini, Discobelle, Indie Shuffle, Electronic Groove, Clubbing Spain and Noctis Magazine as well as Youtube channels Deep Mix Nation and Madorasindahouse. ‘Om Nah Omn’ is the latest offering by Sex of Insects and ‘kicks off with a western-inspired guitar riff;’ Together with Alexandra Bartashevich’s vocal work the single consists of a heightened and intense rhythm, with an energetic rhythm and ‘mesmerizing textures’. dOP, the French trio rework this remix and up it a level or three using dominant bass-kicks, dance-fueled sounds that will be sure to have the club on it’s toes twisting and turning with feverish dance-moves. The remix created by Sailor & I definitely create a different type of depth to the song with ‘80s inspired arpeggios, choppy vocals’ and gives the song an upbeat melodious high-energy atmospheric build-up. Anatoly – who is one part of Sex of Insects delivers his very own ‘Pink Frost’ version remix which is one ‘part industrial, part techno and experimental in nature – an inventive take on the original mix.’ ‘‘Om Nah Omn (ONO Remix)’ produced in tandem by Anatoly Ylotana with Thierry Tomas, proceeds with pounding beats, frigid textures and an astonishingly haunting atmosphere. This might just be the soundtrack to your dreams!”

Headlining one of the remixes is Parisian electronic trio dOP who have been a phenomenal example within the electronic music community for more than ten years. The unique style is experimental techno and house with elements from other genres such as hip-hop or rock and roll. Having garnered considerable fame from remixing for respectable artists DJ Koze, Phantogram, DJ T, DJ Hell, Damian Lazarus, Djuma Soundsystem and many more. The trio have had over 1.3 million views on their Boiler Room sets and 1.2 Million views on their rooftop Sonar set, dOP have also released numerous compilations, singles and as many as 28 EPs through various praised imprints. They can be compared to similar-styled artists Marcel Dettman, Stimming and Nôze, with the latter being a huge influence on the trio’s work. doP have earned themselves a spot on Resident Advisor’s ‘Top Live Acts’ for three years consecutively from 2010-2012 as well as received support from BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong, Red Bull Radio, FACT Mag and Thump throughout their career.

Electronic musical magician Uppermost has released ‘Perservance’

0

Electronic musical magician Uppermost released his album ‘Perseverance’ on the 23rd of March through Uppwind Records after the highly anticipated wait by fans after receiving incredible support from accredited publications COMPLEX, PAPER Mag, Magnetic Mag, Paste Mag, FGUK, Tasty Network, Chill Masters, Wobblecraft and KCRW’s Travis Holcombe and Jason Kramer. Having previously released through major labels such as Sony and Ministry Of Sound, Uppermost has released ‘Perseverance’ independently through his own label and has released singles ‘Make A ‘Change’, ‘Step By Step ft. Sôra’, ‘Slide ft. Yudimah’, ‘Atoms ft. Birsen’ and ‘Perseverance ft Harry Pane’ ahead of the album. The electronic producer was also featured on the Mercedes-Benz’ Formula One commercial using his previous hit track ‘Disco Kids’ which led to him receiving immense support and attention from highly influential publications DJ MAG, Vice, YourEdm and Earmilk, as well as major Youtube channel Mr Suicide Sheep, BBC Radio 1 and Virgin Radio.

The Paris based producer cites Persian music as big influence with rich instinctive sounds which he brings together seamlessly on his new album. His previous project was a 23-track collection of french-wave touch, liquid disco grooves and elements of emotion. The collection named Origins contained production inspiration from producers Moullinex, Star Slinger and Cyril Hahn but still maintaining his unique style of fresh compositions and melodies. The producer is heavily inspired by artists Daft Punk, Burial, Apparat, Phoenix and Pogo and explores his own sound through borrowing styles and different elements that have helped him curate his tasteful sound.

The long-awaited album ‘Perseverance’ consists of 14-tracks which embody Uppermost’s musical journey and discovery into his sound. With energetic beat drops and luxe textures added to an aura of delightful melodies, the album hosts fierce production techniques. ‘Perseverance ft. Harry Pane’ the first track off the album and is the perfect opening track for such a production. The song encorporates a list of heavy basslines and beat drops that signify intense thunder-rich sounds and sets a mood and perfect entrance for tracks ‘Focus,’ ‘Make A Change’ and ‘Where Your Heart Goes ft SYML.’

Talking about the album Uppermost comments: “I decided to work on this album like it’s my last one, putting everything I have to express in it, in the most sincere way I could. I needed to escape from my comfort zone and put myself in a place where I’d be vulnerable again.”
