Joseph Desando Continues to Make His Mark on Electronic Music
While DJs and artists often take centre stage, much of electronic music is built by producers, engineers and collaborators working behind the scenes. Canadian producer Joseph Desando is one of those names, quietly contributing to a growing catalogue of dance music releases, live productions and commercial projects that have collectively generated more than 60 million streams worldwide.
Over the course of his career, Desando has gathered credits on more than 25 commercially released recordings spanning the electronic music spectrum. His recent work has included an ongoing creative role with Canadian team Loud Luxury, providing production, engineering and material for live performances since joining their team in 2024. His catalogue also extends to collaborations with artists including Frank Walker and Brazilian duo Cat Dealers, reflecting the increasingly global nature of modern dance music production.
Beyond artist collaborations, Desando’s work has reached audiences through a variety of platforms. His credits include music associated with major festival environments such as Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and Stagecoach, as well as projects for brands including Starbucks and Tylenol Canada. Among his notable achievements is a contribution to an officially released Taylor Swift remix, which reached No. 1 on the US iTunes chart, alongside releases issued through labels such as Republic Records, Sony Music, Armada Music and Universal Music.
One of Desando’s more distinctive projects includes Senna Driven, an electronic music initiative created in connection with the São Paulo Grand Prix as a tribute to Formula 1 icon Ayrton Senna. Alongside his studio work, he has also maintained an active presence as a performer, appearing at Canadian events including VELD Music Festival and Escapade Music Festival. As his list of credits continues to expand, Desando’s career highlights the increasingly important role of behind-the-scenes creatives whose work helps shape the sound and reach of contemporary electronic music.
