MIN t Drops Third Album, ‘Before The After’ Fusing Genres and Emotion

MIN t released her third album, Before The After, on May 8th. The album comes from Martyna Kubicz, a Polish-born artist now based in Berlin who works as a singer, songwriter, composer, producer, and mix engineer. MIN t calls her music genreless, mixing electronic, pop, and RnB, and takes inspiration from artists like Aphex Twin, Autechre, Charli XCX, D’Angelo,FKA twigs, and Aretha Franklin.
The title track, ‘Before The After,’ bursts open the album with electrifying drum and bass rhythms, a commanding bassline, and vocals that pulse with energy. Swelling synths create a sense of anticipation, pulling listeners deeper into the album’s world. Prior singles ‘Hope’ and ‘Last Day’, the former accompanied by a striking music video, served as a bold statement of this new era. Tracks like ‘Hope,’ ‘Last Day,’ and ‘Water’ reveal a more vulnerable side, blending heartfelt lyrics with the kinetic drive of UK-garage beats. ‘Digital Flower’ showcases her knack for intricate production, layering glitchy textures, while ‘Hangover’ infuses reggaeton grooves, proving her effortless command of multiple genres.
MIN t shared: “Before the After tells the story of a tainted world where hope is becoming harder and harder to find. Each song strips away another layer of my belief in a better tomorrow. I explore themes of apocalypse, self-destruction, and toxic relationships, as reality itself begins to fall apart. Yet, on the ruins of that reality, I still see a chance to reclaim my agency. For me, becoming aware of my own mistakes is the first step toward change, and transformation can ultimately lead to regaining control over my own life. Sonically, the album is a fusion of bass music and R&B, where I experiment with different styles and textures, pushing boundaries while staying emotionally raw and honest.”
